Quick 20 Minute Workout For Busy Moms

Quick, simple, no equipment, home workouts are what my life is all about these days. Being a mom of 2 with a home business, time for myself is very minimal. I used to do the gym thing but after feeding and watering the kids, getting a baby and young child dressed and ready, gathering diaper bags, driving to the gym, dropping kids off at the child watch, doing an hour workout, picking the kids back up, and then going home, it usually eats up 2+ hours of my day that quite frankly, I feel could be of better use.

Here Is My Daily 20 Minute Workout:

  Workout After Bus Stop Drop

Workout After Bus Stop Drop

After getting my daughter dressed and ready for school and getting changed into my workout clothes, I gather the baby, place him in his stroller and walk my daughter to the bus stop. After the bus comes and picks up the kids, it's a quick good-bye wave and then I'm off with the stroller running. I run the neighborhood for about 15 minutes, watching my son point at all the trucks and dogs, listening to the birds chirping. This time allows me to plan, reflect, and prepare for my day.  The blood flows through my body and the oxygen fills my lungs and circulates to my brain giving me a feeling of calmness and makes me feel ready to tackle the day.

After about 15 minutes, my legs are burning, I'm out of breath and I head home. Once home, I unload the baby and put away the stroller. This particular morning, I decided to make my homemade almond milk. It takes 2 minutes in the blender so as I was waiting for the blender to finish, I did pushups, first on my toes and then dropping to my knees until my almond milk was finished. You certainly don't have to do pushups, instead you could do jump squats, lunges, tricep pushups, or even hold plank. And BOOM, that was my workout. Quick, simple, and effective.

Your workout doesn't have to look exactly like this. This just works with my lifestyle and my schedule at the present. Look at your schedule and find those 20 minutes to fit that workout in. You can do pushups while waiting for your washer to finish it's last cycle, do squats during the commercial breaks of your favorite tv show, while watching football do 10 burpees after each touchdown. Get creative! Don't feel like you have to do some crazy elaborate workout that you dread doing. As long as you are moving your body at least 30 minutes most days and spend the rest of your day focusing on what's on your plate, drinking water, and getting an adequate amount of sleep then you are golden. Make a plan, stick with it, and feel your body thank you!
