Creating Your Own Fitness Journey
I want to make it my goal to be able to have others feel what it's like to be fit and by fit I mean physically as well as mentally and emotionally healthy. Being fit has many layers to it and we must balance them all in order to truly be fit. I have always been into fitness as a young adult, however, I had no clue that the level that I am at now was actually attainable to me. Becoming in control of your body is a difficult obstacle for a lot of people, including myself. It was a constant battle between what I should eat and what I wanted to eat, wanting to work out vs finding an excuse as to why I shouldn't work out. It's not as much of a struggle these days because I've been able to find a harmonious blend of what I want and what I need. I have found ways to have my cake and eat it too.
When you were in school and had a project, and received an 'A' on that project it was very exciting and rewarding. If anyone has received a reward for an accomplishment, that is also a proud moment. Now take that excitement and multiply it by 1000 and that is the kind of excitement you get when the project you are working on is yourself, and you get an 'A'! There is a self gratification that comes with putting yourself first, not in a selfish way, but in a way that allows you to not only succeed yourself, but to allow others into your life and influence them by your actions towards yourself. By you putting yourself first and taking care of yourself, you are in turn able to take care of the other people around you. You can only be as good of a person to others as you are to yourself.
Be sure to treat yourself with love, respect, and happiness. Too often we are hard on ourselves, put ourselves down, and are negative. How do we expect to be an influence to our children, our peers, ourselves if we are constantly in a hole? Try to pull yourself out of that hole and you will see how beautiful it can be once you dig yourself out. We all have to start somewhere. Start your self project today and work on helping others by helping yourself.
